HLTH 501: Visualization for Health and Well-being

This 13 week course provides theory, application, and practice in the process and dynamics of using visualization and imagery in healthcare practice and education for the promotion of health and well-being in self and others. This course entails 39 instruction hours, equivalent in length to a standard 3 credit college course.

Practice includes applications to various client populations and situations including pediatrics, adult, obstetrics, surgery, medicine, chronic illness, body image, pain control, wound and fracture healing, cancer treatment and other conditions. A self-focused component provides practice in applying the techniques to improve work performance and mental clarity, as well as promoting personal health and well-being. Read More....


HLTH 502: Music in Obstetrics and Pediatrics

This 13 week course provides theory, application and practice in the process of applying music as a therapeutic intervention during pregnancy, childbirth, in postpartum, and with infants and children in pediatric settings. This course entails 39 instruction hours, equivalent in length to a standard 3 credit college course.

Particular focus is given to the use of music to:

* enhance comfort and relaxation;
* simulate alpha brain wave patterns;
* facilitate breathing and control during labor;
* help to regulate neonatal behaviorial states;
* promote parental-infant reciprocity;
* enhance pain relief and healing;
* promote sleep;
* enhance learning.

This 13 week course provides theory, application and practice in the process of developing personalized and balanced fitness programs for clients of all ages. This course entails 39 instruction hours, equivalent in length to a standard 3 credit college course.

Particular focus is placed on:
* Body Image and Mental Focus
* Tools for Planning and Process
* Components of Balanced Fitness
* Nutrition and Fitness
* Preventing Fitness-related Injuries
* Personalized Program Planning

This course requires intensive self-exploration and application, since the design of a Personal Fitness Program is done by each student as part of the assessment process. Read More....
